Back to School OR NOT!

What does back to school look like for unschoolers? 

It looks like -

● Taking advantage of school/art supply sales!

● Empty parks to have picnics in! (No kids begging for your food!)

● Sleeping (unless you're an early bird) while all the other parents are scrambling to get their kids off to school.

● Being able to make plans to go to museums or the zoo without worrying about it being packed!

● Not having to deal with judgy moms at the park giving you the stink eye while they helicopter their kids on the playground.

● Watching your kids play in the yard instead of being forced to sit at a desk and learn useless facts.

● Enjoying the rest of the warm weather in relative peace!

● NOT having to buy a bunch of supplies that will be lost or destroyed within a month! Not having to wander the stores looking for impossible to find items on that stupid list!

● Enjoying the fact that not much even changes in your day to day life!

● The neighborhood is quieter during school hours!

Negatives (Yes, there are some.) -

● Having to schedule playdates and plans with public schoolers around their school schedule.

● Having people year after year ask if you're putting your kids in school even though you've told them you're homeschooling. *insert eyeroll*

● Dealing with judgemental comments from said morons oops, I mean "well meaning friends and family and strangers/aquaintences".

● Sometimes the kids ask, and you have to explain to them why you aren't putting them in the public school system.

● Feeling bad for public schooled kids.

● Seeing rude posts on facebook from mothers entirely too happy to be rid of their children...

Back to school time ROCKS!
